The Family Trumpet

At Christmas we picked up The trumpet that has been passed down through the family, for Jill to play with. It started with my Uncle Steve and was then passed to my sister Colleen. It was more than likely purchased used in the 60's and I have no idea how old it really is. For the past several years it has been stored in Dad's basement and the case is really musty and moldy.

I took it to the music store and ordered up a new case for it. $82 for that. Then I had them send it off for cleaning and maintenance. Still waiting to hear about how much that's going to be. I believe the service includes replacing the felt and corks, but I think that spring replacement is extra.  After that we should be able to maintain it at home and keep it in good shape. Jill has been very excited about playing this Trumpet because of the warm sound it has and the sentimental aspects of it being passed down through the family.
