The Gardens are planted

We went to the nursery down Verona/Caney road on Sunday and pretty much got all the plants we needed for the gardens for $3.10. That's a crazy price. I am never buying from a store again.

Anyway, we have tomatoes, beets, carrots, yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, onions, green beans, peppers, and potatoes all planted. Hopefully they all do well. The soil in all of the gardens seems to be developing into much better quality as the years go on. We just continue to work in the compost we make.

I'm so glad that Spring is here

I have been spending the last few weeks mowing the lawn, getting the gardens ready for planting, and other generally Spring-like tasks. Being out in the sun, working to tame my own piece of earth is so fun and rewarding. I forget sometimes, during the winter, how wonderful this time of year really is.

Anyway, lettuce, spinach, and onions are all growing wonderfully. I just put beans in this morning. Everything else will probably get put in next week. Can't wait to start reaping the harvest.

Audra wants chickens really badly, but I think it will have to wait until next year due to the financial situation.

Just thought I'd give everyone an update.
