Closer problems already...

Well, Motte gave up the game in the ninth. Surprise, surprise. I hope this year is not a repeat of last year in the closer department. It is so demoralizing to take a lead into the late innings and have your closer hand it over. I know it's only the first game, but it felt all too familiar. Our closers blew over 30 games last year. That makes a huge difference in whether we contend or not. What are we paying the closers for anyway? Aren't they supposed to CLOSE the game?

On another note, El Hombre went 3 for 4 with a double and is batting .750.

Albert can't do it all though.

Yeah, pretty disappointing as I thought they had it all wrapped up going into the 9th. Although, it's never good when they lead off the inning with a double. I started to regain some faith in that the next batter struck out. The next thing I know I switched off the game to listen to something else as I figured it was over. Come to find out they lost 6-4. Hopefully, they can shore up the closer department and like you said not have a repeat of the same problems as last year.

Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed. Why is it always pitching though? That's been our weakness as long as I can remember.
